|
|
I have a Dell running Windows 2000.
Whenever I try to connect using dialup
everyting goes fine until it connects to my
ISP and then the computer just resets.
Sometimes I can be connected for about
2 minutes or so and then it just resets on me.
Any suggestions? |

No, it just resets immediately, no warning what so ever. |

I know someone else this was happening to. I suspect that you may be infected with a newer virus (they are infected).
Don't think you can update AVG manually though |

I don't think it may be a virus. It may be faulty drivers/ TCP/IP / or even faulty hardware.
The best test would be to do a reformat and reinstall winslows. _________________ Well my mum says i'm cool....

I wouldn't call that a test, I would call that "reinstalling all your network components AND eliminating any virus" |

Well yeah
Even swapping the modem to another free PCI slot may do the trick. I have a PCI slot on my PC that just does not like my modem.

Ok this time I reinstalled my driver and I got the modem connect to the internet and it worked for about an hour. It then reset the computer with the same error message. I installed the driver again and this time the modem can dial about 4 numbers then gives up.
Faulty modem? |
