OK, in my house we don't have wifi because our router broke somehow and now my dad won't buy a new one. I had been wanting to play on online with my ps3 but this wasn't possible because I didn't want to buy a 50 ft long ethernet cord. So instead of doing either of these things, I just took the modem from the computer and used the cable that was used for the tv cable box because it then i could use a normal ethernet cord to connect my ps3 to the internet.
This worked fine for a while but then the modem just randomly (to my knowledge) stopped working. The first two lights (Internet and pc link) would start blinking simultaneously as they normally do, but nothing would happen after that. I've tried rebooting it multiple times but to no avail. The weird part is that the modem boots up just fine with the cable by the computer. The cable box for the tv also works just fine but the the cable doesn't but the cable doesn't work with the modem.
Any help you guys can give me is greatly appreciated.

This means that the modem is not finding a downstream channel. Does it work when it is hooked up to the PC? If so, it could be a problem with the cable jack that is near the PS3. _________________ Bradford Liedel

i work for an isp and alot of the times the issue with the ps3's is due to not being able to open ports on certain modems most cases a router is put in place so those ports that need to be opened can be with a router in place.......
most modems provided by isp's are unable to have ports opened
