Has anyone ever dealt with Error 6 and Error 50 on Windows XP
This user kept on getting those errors while dialing up. Those are not dial up errors but they would only appear while trying to dial.

Recreating the dialer didnt help.

error 6: The handle is invalid
error 50: The request is not supported

There are not many search results regarding these errors...even on the MS Support site. I was able to find this but its unresolved: http://www.computing.net/windowsxp/wwwboard/forum/130763.html

I am not a member of your site, nor do i wish to be, but I did see a thread which was identical to mine. http://forums.modemhelp.net/viewtopic.php?t=3906

I had the same errors 6 and 50.
I removed the modem software and any drivers to do with it. turned the Pc off and removed the card/hardware.
Inserted the windows XP CD and did a repair on existing instance.
Downloaded the latest dirvers for the modem and installed them.
Switched PC off and installed hardware.
Booted and modem found ok.
No more Error 6 and 50.

The repair did not affect existing apps and settings, but fixed my prob.

Please could you add this suggestion to that thread. (albeit a shotgun approach, other blogs mention days worth of fiddling to resolve this issue - and still didnt resolve)

Thanks for your help.

Regards
